Hilliard Davidson boys soccer beat Reynoldsburg 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Division I Central 3 district semifinal, advancing to the next round against Dublin Jerome.
The Wildcats will travel to Dublin Jerome at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to the team's MaxPreps schedule. Davidson now carries a 5-5-7 overall record into the matchup.
The Wildcats scored 21 goals and allowed 20 during the regular season. That balance will be tested.
Davidson enters as an underdog. Jerome, the defending Division I state champion, carried a 14-2-1 record into the postseason and was ranked No. 3 in cleveland.com's statewide boys soccer Top 20 entering tournament play. Senior forward Liam Neidenthal contributed seven goals and nine assists, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The Wildcats have some postseason experience of their own in net. Junior goalkeeper Satchel Tarr posted six shutouts in 14 regular-season games and made more than 50 saves. He missed two games because of injury and allowed 20 goals on the season. Davidson coach Pat Billman told The Dispatch that Tarr "he does fantastic with aerial balls, avoiding set piece goals and using his feet."
The two teams met once already this season. Jerome beat Davidson 2-0 on Aug. 20 in the second game of the year, so the Wildcats know what they are walking into Wednesday night.
