Hilliard Darby's boys soccer season ended Oct. 28 with a 1-0 loss to Columbus St. Charles in the OHSAA Division I Central 2 district final.
The third-seeded Cardinals hosted the match and claimed the district championship with the win, according to the OHSAA tournament bracket. Darby, seeded 16th, was shut out for the first time in the postseason after scoring twice in its opening-round victory.
The Panthers reached the district final by beating Delaware Hayes 2-1 on Oct. 21. That first-round win came after Darby had been handed a four-goal defeat in its previous outing, according to a MaxPreps game preview published before the district final.
Darby's record stood at 6-6-6 after the Hayes win, per MaxPreps.
St. Charles entered the district final with 14 wins in its last 16 games and a 14-3-1 record, per MaxPreps. That stretch included a 7-0 win over Newark in the first round on Oct. 21. The Cardinals advance to the Region 1 tournament, where they will face the Central 6 district winner on Nov. 4 as the home team.
The loss closes the book on Darby's 2026 season and its postseason run as a 16 seed.
