A head-on collision on Alkire Road killed one driver and left another in critical condition Aug. 6, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened at approximately 3:33 p.m. in front of 6337 Alkire Rd., near Bausch Road, in unincorporated Franklin County west of Hilliard. A black 2017 Cadillac ATS traveling northbound struck a brown 2010 Toyota Venza heading southbound in the center of the roadway.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Pleasant Township Medic 231 transported the Toyota driver to Doctors West Hospital in critical condition. Hospital staff pronounced that driver dead at 4:29 p.m., roughly 56 minutes after the collision. Prairie Township Medic 243 transported the Cadillac driver to Riverside Hospital, also in critical condition. The Cadillac driver remained critical as of the sheriff's office press release Thursday evening.
Neither driver has been publicly identified. No charges have been filed.
The sheriff's office said investigators have not yet determined which vehicle crossed the center line. Sheriff Dallas Baldwin's Crash Investigation Unit is leading the probe.
