Hilliard families can float carved pumpkins on a pond and catch an outdoor screening of Zootopia 2 on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park.
The city's Pumpkin Float and Flick runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free, and no tickets or pre-registration are required, according to the city's event page.
Attendees can bring a pre-carved sugar pumpkin weighing five pounds or less to set afloat on the park's pond. After sunset, the outdoor screening of Zootopia 2 begins. The city describes the evening as featuring a lantern-lit trail and pumpkins floating on the pond.
Residents should pack their own lawn chairs, blankets or picnic supplies. One heads-up for pumpkin carvers: the city warns that due to the logistics of pumpkin removal, floated pumpkins may not be returned after the event. Pumpkins should be carved and decorated before arrival.
The pumpkin float is a recurring fall tradition in Hilliard. A 2022 city newsletter promoted a similar "Watch and Glow" pumpkin float and movie night at the same park.
Columbus Underground included the event in its weekend roundup of things to do across central Ohio.
Destination Hilliard, the city's tourism arm, is also promoting the night on its website.
