Norwich Township residents still dealing with debris from the Aug. 11 storms have until Sept. 8 to sign up for collection.

The township posted the deadline in a notice on Tuesday, Sept. 1, on its website, saying more than 250 properties have placed storm debris curbside. The Norwich Township Road Department, led by Superintendent Robbie Thomas, has been working through Ridgewood Estates one street at a time. The township has also hired a local company to help, though it did not name the contractor.

The township estimated collection will take about two more weeks from the Sept. 1 notice but did not commit to a specific completion date. In the announcement, the township apologized for the delay and said crews are working to reach everyone.

The Aug. 11 storms swept across central Ohio. The National Weather Service suspected a tornado tracked through Dublin toward Ohio State University around 10:30 a.m. that day, and observers recorded 82 mph winds at John Glenn International Airport, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Winds of 52 mph were also recorded at Ohio State University Airport.

The City of Hilliard has been running a separate cleanup operation, with city crews chipping and collecting tree limbs across multiple zones. Norwich Township's program covers the surrounding unincorporated areas, including Ridgewood Estates, where crews have focused their efforts.

Residents with larger piles should place branches parallel to the road, as close to the curb as safely possible. Piles should not block sidewalks, mailboxes or the roadway itself.

Smaller bundles can go out with regular trash on the scheduled pickup day through Local Waste Services, the township's contracted hauler for residential solid waste and yard debris. Local Waste has its own requirements for bundle size and preparation.

The next scheduled Norwich Township trustees meeting is Sept. 15 at noon at the Safety Services Building, 5181 Northwest Parkway, according to the township's published meeting schedule.
