New band towers are rising at all three Hilliard high schools as the district pushes through a summer of construction under its Master Facilities Plan.
Hilliard City Schools published its latest facilities plan update, dated September 2026, on Aug. 27. The district reported that work is underway at campuses across Hilliard, touching Bradley, Darby and Davidson high schools and multiple elementary buildings.
The summer projects include:
- New band towers at Bradley, Darby and Davidson high schools
- Tennis court replacements at Darby and Davidson
- Expanded secured entrances at multiple buildings
- Continued playground improvements at several elementary schools
No cost estimates were provided.
The band towers had been under construction since at least March 2026, according to an earlier district update. Secured-entrance construction began in August 2025 at all three high schools plus Heritage Middle School, Tharp Sixth Grade and Weaver Middle School.
Playground upgrades at six elementary schools, including Avery, Britton, Crossing, Horizon, J.W. Reason and Norwich, were completed in Phase 1. The current work appears to be Phase 2, though the district's update does not name specific schools receiving new playgrounds this summer.
All of the construction falls under the Master Facilities Plan, which the district has also called "Blueprint for Tomorrow." The plan is funded by Issue 39, a levy approved by voters in 2024. In January 2025, the Board of Education approved three partners for Phase 1: Fanning Howey to design new schools, Ruscilli Construction to manage building and Schorr Architects to handle playground and security upgrades.
The district said the projects represent an ongoing investment made possible through community support. The update did not include dollar figures for the summer work or a completion deadline.
The district is also conducting assessments to guide future improvements to performing arts centers at its high schools, though no timeline for that work has been announced.
