Hardy Parkway south of Frank Road Will stay closed until at least Oct. 19, the Franklin County Engineer's Office announced on X on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The office, led by Franklin County Engineer Adam Fowler, cited construction challenges it did not anticipate when setting the original timeline. It did not elaborate on what went wrong.
The new target date is weather-dependent.
The Hilliard Herald previously reported the road was expected to reopen around Oct. 9. That date has now slipped by more than a week, and the total closure is approaching two months. The road first closed on Aug. 21 for what the engineer's office initially described as approaching two months, according to an earlier post from the office.
The closure is part of the Frank Road at Brown Road and Hardy Parkway Improvement Project, a broader effort to replace traffic signals and stop signs at two Frank Road intersections with two-lane roundabouts. One roundabout will replace the existing signalized intersection where Frank Road meets Hardy Parkway and Brown Road. The second will replace the stop-controlled intersection at Frank Road and Brown Road (Township), according to the engineer's office project page.
The project also includes drainage upgrades, new street lighting and pedestrian improvements at both intersections.
Drivers who use Hardy Parkway Street to reach Frank Road will continue to encounter the closure. The Oct. 13 announcement provided no new detour instructions.
The next update from the Franklin County Engineer's Office will determine whether the Oct. 19 target holds or shifts again.
