Coffee Connections owner Nate Grenier is searching for a new permanent home for the Old Hilliard coffee shop, two months after structural damage forced it out of 4004 Main St.

The owners say a new location is in the works, the Columbus Navigator reported Aug. 30. No specific address or timeline has been announced.

In the meantime, Coffee Connections is serving customers from the basement of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship at 4066 Main St., just blocks from its former spot. The pop-up is open Wednesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon, 614Now reported Aug. 6.

The shop closed June 27 after a June 17 inspection by the city of Hilliard and the Norwich Township fire marshal found a sinking floor that was shifting the walls and ceiling of the early 20th-century building. Inspectors ordered the building owner to have a structural engineer assess the damage within 14 days or have the tenant vacate, the Hilliard Beacon reported June 24.

Nate and Sharon Grenier opened Coffee Connections in September 2016. The shop won the Columbus Dispatch's CBUS Top Picks Community's Choice Award for favorite coffee shop three consecutive years, from 2023 through 2025, the Dispatch reported.

More than 100 people gathered at the shop on its final day for a prayer circle at 12:30 p.m. before helping staff move equipment out of the building, the Beacon reported.

"Coffee Connections isn't this building, it's the people," Grenier told the crowd on June 27, according to the Beacon.

Grenier said at the time that he had spoken with Andy Warnock, founder and CEO of Westwood Collective, about potential sites in Old Hilliard, but none were available among Warnock's holdings. Westwood Collective has redeveloped several properties in the district in recent years. Grenier said he was exploring other spaces that might become available.

Coffee Connections blends are also available at Bakes by Lo's storefront at 4045 Main St., the former Ketchum's Garage, which opened in late June or early July, according to the Beacon. The two businesses share a kiosk at the Center Street Market.

Sharon Grenier told Fox 28 Columbus on June 22 that the building at 4004 Main St. had previously served as a World War II ration station, a bait shop and a bakery.

No opening date or address for a permanent new location has been confirmed.
