Graduates of Hilliard High School's Class of 1981 are heading back to the neighborhood where many of them grew up. Their 45th reunion is set for Sept. 12, starting at 4 p.m. at Crooked Can / Center Street Market in Old Hilliard.

Organizers Linda Boynton and Karla Boothe Long are coordinating the gathering at the brewery and multi-vendor market at 5354 Center St. A group photo is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The announcement on the Hilliard City Schools website notes the district has no additional details about the event and directs questions to the organizers.

Back to Old Hilliard

When the Class of 1981 graduated, there was only one Hilliard high school. The school was renamed Hilliard Davidson High School in 1997 after Hilliard Darby opened. But the stretch of Center Street the graduates knew is still the heart of Old Hilliard.

The reunion venue opened as a $3 million, 16,000-square-foot brewery, multi-vendor market and event space, according to the city's 2022 operating budget. Crooked Can's taproom and a 7,000-square-foot patio anchor the complex, which also features food vendors, coffee and a walk-up window from the courtyard.

It fits.

The school district listing does not include registration details or ticket costs. Classmates interested in attending should contact Boynton or Boothe Long directly. The district posted the announcement on Aug. 9, giving graduates about five weeks to make plans.
