Someone fired multiple rounds from a moving vehicle on Interstate 71 South on Aug. 10, striking two occupied vehicles near the I-270 interchange and Stringtown Road in Grove City during the morning rush.

No one was injured.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Dallas Baldwin, said deputies responded at approximately 7:26 a.m. after receiving reports of the gunfire. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on I-71 when they were struck, according to the sheriff's office press release.

One victim reported seeing a dark gray or dark-colored SUV swerve onto the I-270 interchange at a high rate of speed. Investigators believe the SUV may be connected to the shooting, but no make, model, year or license plate number is available.

The I-71/I-270 interchange is a major southbound commuter corridor connecting Hilliard to Grove City and points south.
