Hilliard Bradley erased a 14-point deficit before halftime but went scoreless in the second half as Olentangy Liberty pulled away for a 28-14 win Friday, Oct. 9, in Powell.

Liberty running back Grayson Davis was the difference. He carried the ball 16 times for 162 yards and scored all three of his touchdowns through the first three quarters, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Davis scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter after his 37-yard reception helped set up the touchdown. He added a 10-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter, and Liberty led 14-0.

Bradley answered.

Quarterback Declan O'Neil completed 10 of 12 passes for 145 yards in the first half. Wide receiver Bralyn Gordin hauled in five catches for 116 yards, including an 85-yard reception that set up a score. Running back Rashaud Truss punched in both Jaguar touchdowns, the first a 2-yard run that cut the deficit to 14-7 with 5:26 left in the second quarter. Truss scored again from about a foot out as time expired in the half, and the game was tied 14-14.

The second half belonged to Liberty. Davis broke several tackles on a 48-yard touchdown run with 43 seconds left in the third quarter, capping a 90-yard drive run entirely on the ground. He had converted a fourth-and-1 near midfield to keep the possession alive.

Daniel Anyanechi sealed it with a 49-yard touchdown run with 6:04 left in the fourth quarter, pushing the lead to 28-14.

Bradley had two chances to answer. One drive reached Liberty's 10-yard line before Gabe Levin intercepted O'Neil at the 7 with 9:18 remaining. On the next possession, Truss fumbled after a short catch, giving Liberty the ball at its own 49 with 3:37 left.

The loss drops Bradley to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the OCC-Central under head coach Mike LoParo. Liberty improved to 5-3 and 3-0 in division play under head coach John Sansbury, extending its winning streak to five games.

Bradley entered the week ranked No. 4 in the OHSAA Division I, Region 2 computer ratings with a 13.4429 rating, according to rankings released Tuesday, Oct. 6. The top 12 teams in each region qualify for the playoffs, which begin Oct. 30. The top four seeds receive a first-round bye.
